The Triund Trek is a scenic and accessible trek located in the Dhauladhar range of Himachal Pradesh, India. Known for its stunning views of the Kangra Valley and the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountains, this trek is perfect for beginners and experienced trekkers alike.  Starting Point

The trek typically begins from McLeodganj or the nearby village of Dharamkot. McLeodganj is accessible from Dharamshala, which is well-connected by road and has the nearest airport, Gaggal Airport.

 Distance and Duration

Distance: Approximately 9 kilometers one way.

Duration: 4-6 hours to ascend and 3-4 hours to descend.

 Route Details

  1. McLeodganj/Dharamkot to Galu Devi Temple (2 km)

   – The initial part of the trek involves a gentle ascent through dense pine and deodar forests.

   – Galu Devi Temple is a small shrine and a popular resting point with a tea stall.

  1. Galu Devi Temple to Magic View Cafe (2 km)

   – The trail becomes steeper but remains well-defined.

   – Magic View Cafe, one of the oldest cafes in the area, offers refreshments and stunning views.

  1. Magic View Cafe to Triund (5 km)

   – The path continues to ascend, with a mix of rocky terrain and forest cover.

   – The Triund ridge offers panoramic views of the Dhauladhar range and the Kangra Valley.

Spring (March to May): Pleasant weather with blooming rhododendrons.

Autumn (September to November): Clear skies and crisp air.

Winter (December to February): Snow-covered trails, adding a challenging yet beautiful aspect.

Monsoon (July to August): Best to avoid due to slippery trails and risk of landslides.
